Washington Irving

Washington Irving is a Glasgow-based band shaping their own space within the modern indie scene. While rooted in the city’s vibrant music culture, the members originally come from Oban and Aberdeen — a background that subtly weaves into their sound.

They describe their music as “Caledonian Rock” — a distinctive blend of traditional West Coast folk storytelling and powerful, contemporary indie rock. The result is both atmospheric and energetic, balancing lyrical depth with dynamic instrumentation.Their discography includes the critically acclaimed album “August 1914” (2017), along with releases such as the EPs “Little Wanderer” and “Head Thee Home.”

On stage, Washington Irving truly comes into their own. Known for their impressive live energy, they have toured alongside Frightened Rabbit and supported Runrig during their 40th anniversary show, performing in front of an audience of over 20,000 people. Deeply connected to the Scottish music community, the band has collaborated and recorded with artists such as Mike Nisbet and members of Three Blind Wolves.
